Sarom Heng immigrated with her 10 month young son to Fredonia from Cambodia in late 2001.She brought with her a deep understanding of nature and plants, a keen talent for growing plants, and a unique gift for flavor and presentation of foods.
Gong Gardens was a CSA (community supported agriculture) for it’s first ten years and grew food for up to fifty families annually. Sarom was assisted by interns from SUNY Fredonia during the summer months who lived near the gardens in a yurt. The switch to prepared foods was a natural progression, as vegetable spring rolls, sushi, and salads were the meals that Sarom fixed for her interns.
Now Gong Gardens tries to grow all of the ingredients for their prepared foods, and still offers many other purely organically grown wholesome vegetables for their customers.
